Anyone who acts outside of our Code of Conduct and the requirements of the RESPECT campaign jeopardise their involvement with Ossett Town Juniors. The Code of Conduct is the most important document people need to be aware of.
We all need to remember why we are here - coaches and managers are not here to see if they are as tactically aware as Arsene Wenger or as successful as Alex Ferguson. Spectators are not here to "bully" players on to win at all costs. Nor are we here to argue with the opposition spectators, managers, players or referees.
I know we have lots of fantastic people at the club, players, parents, coaches and managers - but we all need to be aware that as a club we are being monitored closely by the West Riding County FA and even one incident of inappropriate behaviour is one too much.
It’s every adults responsibility to show our young players how to be successful by simply showing respect ourselves. Especially towards referees, yes I know a minority of referees may appear biased or indeed inept, but most of the time they just make mistakes, like we all do.
I know only too well that we can get caught up in the excitement of watching players play football but lets remember the game belongs to the players.
If you think intimidating anyone makes them play better or indeed makes a referee conduct a game better then to be honest you shouldn’t be watching a junior football match.
Here's looking to a successful 2010/11 season - good luck everyone and thanks for your support.
James Rogers, Chairman
Message for Parents and Guardians – Please Get Involved!
As we begin the new season, please make every effort to assist your son / daughter’s manager and coaching staff. Match reports, assembling and dismantling the goals, corner flags, boundaries etc are areas where you are able to contribute. From the Junior Management Committee to the referees, we are all volunteers and need your help, as we all have “day jobs” too and do what we do for the sake of all of the children. I write this in support of the managers, coaches and referees, as the Club Welfare Officer. Many thanks in anticipation and good luck for the season. Steve Fealy.
Ossett Town Race Night - Saturday 14th August 2010
The evening will consist of eight races each of which can be sponsored and in each race each horse can be sponsored, this can be easily treated as a bit of fun or a equally a good sponsorship opportunity. We have an Auction race which will be classed as race 8 [the last race of the evening, details of which will be given on the night]. Naturally, each horse can be bet on the same way as at a Track. A raffle will take place with ...some cracking prizes. Also, we have a top quality Indie Band who will be performing throughout the evening for your entertainment.
As I'm certain you will appreciate no children will be allowed but the nights focus will be on creating a link between senior sections, the academy and the juniors of the club and that of the people that invest a great deal of time and effort in their respective posts within Ossett Town AFC as a whole. The evening is there to raise funds but also and just as important, for people in the club under whatever steam to get to know people they don't know, have only heard of and make contact with them and forge working relationships. I am certain the event will be a great success and even more so with your support.

The U9s made it six gala wins for the season in their last competition in 2009/10. Playing in a league format the U9s Pumas were again unbeaten winning three games and drawing their last game to take top-spot. Well done guys - another great performance. Overall, a great season for the U9s - well done to all players, you all played your part. Have a well earned-rest and enjoy the summer.
Ossett Gala Winners - U10s (Season 2010-11)
Well done to the U10s (this last year's U9s) for winning the FA Cup at the Ossett Town Gala beating Norristhorpe B on penalties.
Walton Gala Winners - U12s
Well done to the U12s today who came out champions in the Walton gala.
Kippax Gala Winners - U9s
The U9s Pumas did it again with another gala win, this time at Kippax. Town started brightly winning their first three games - 1 v 0 against Rothwell Town Blues with Spencer getting the solitary goal; 2 v 0 against Rothwell Town Reds with Spencer on the scoresheet again and a wonder free-kick from Fishman; the third group game was again 1 v 0 with Spencer getting the goal against Garforth Blues. In the fourth group game, and with Ossett already through, Town took their foot off the gas and went down to a 2 v 1 defeat to Garforth Reds with Town's goal courtesy of Dickinson-Brown following a corner. In the semi-final, Town were up against Ferry Fryston and won comfortably with a 2 v 0 win, both goals coming from Spencer. In the final, Town faced Garforth Reds for the second time in a day, but this time took control of the game from the off. The winning goal came from an excellent piece of skill and determination from Oliver Dickinson-Brown, beating three players before blasting the ball past the keeper. The game ended 1 v 0 and Ossett Town were worthy champions against a good Garforth team. Hardy was his usual confident self in goals; the defence of Boden and McDaid were immense today; the hard-working Oliver-Dickinson, Matty Rogers and Max Wilson never stopped running in the midfield roles, and the trusted feet of Spencer and Fishman meant Town scored some excellent goals. The Panthers narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals by one point. Well done guys.
Cumberworth Gala Winners - U9s
The U9s Pumas made it two gala wins in two days after winning the Cumberworth Plate. Whilst the Pumas were unbeaten all day, it took two penalty shoot-outs to secure the win. In the semi-final, a 0 v 0 draw was enough to get to a penalty shoot-out which Town won 3 v 2. In the final Town were losing 1 v 0 to Linthwaite A and looked to be taking runners-up spot when Matty Rogers equalised with a sublime pass into the net with the last kick of he game. The penalty shoot-out went to sudden-death with Town coming out winners at the end of the day 5 v 4. Special mention also goes to to Matty Rogers who got his 100th goal for Town today as part of a six-goal haul. The Panthers narrowly missed the knock-out stage after a battling performance losing out on goal difference - well done guys.
Howden Clough Gala Winners - U9s
The U9s took the champions spot in the Howden Clough gala after beating Saville Town in the final after penalties. Ossett Town Pumas had a great day not conceding a goal in open play all day and confidently scoring their four penalties in the final shoot-out. Goalkeeper Harry Hardy saved one penalty and Saville Town missed the other for Ossett to take the gala winners trophy, winning 4 v 1 on penalties after a tense 0 v 0 draw.
Gildersome Gala Winners and Runners Up - U10s and U9s
The U10s took the champions spot in the 2010 Gildersome Gala with a 1 v 0 win over hosts Gildersome Spurs. In the U9s final, Town were edged into the runners up spot following another closely contested final which saw Gildersome Spurs beat Ossett Town U9s Pumas 1 v 0. Ossett Town U9s Panthers also had a great day reaching the semi-finals. Well done to both the U10s and the U9s.
U9s and U11s - Rastrick Gala Champions
The U9s and U11s both took the champions trophy in their respective age groups at the 2010 Rastrick Gala - well done guys.
U10s - League Champions
In a fantastic season the U10s finished joint top of Division B in the Garforth league. With 26 wins and 1 draw out of 32 games Town secured joint-top with 79 points along with Hunslet Juniors - well done to all of the players for a great achievement and to Chris Harrison for steering the team to joint champions. Well done all.
Club Record Equalled
Mo Sidat and Sam Pashley, two U14s B players, have this season equalled the club record for most goals scored in a season at 11-a-side - each getting 90 goals. They have been neck and neck all season and rounded off a great season with Sidat scoring four and Pash scoring three in the last game of the season to equal the record set by Bobby Madley some years ago. A fantastic achivement guys and a new record for most goals scored in a striking partnership - 180 in total!
2009/10 Secker Cup Winners - U14s
In a tremendous game of football, Ossett Town U14s came off eventual winners with a 3 v 2 win over local rivals Hartshead. Ossett Town scored first with Danny Wright knocking in a good goal from a corner. Hartshead were soon back on level terms and it stayed 1 v 1 until half time. It was end-to-end stuff in the second half and Hartshead went ahead following a goalmouth scramble. Town were not to be outdone though and Connor Daniel pulled something out of the top drawer with a fantastic individual goal. It was now end-to-end and could have gone either way with both teams having chances. As it looked to be going into extra-time Ashley Young got onto the end of a great free-kick to take it to 3 v 2 and win the tie. Well done to both teams - a tremendous cup final. Player of the match went to Ben Fox for a superb performance at left-back. Well done the the U14s from everyone at Ossett Town
2009/10 Invitation Cup Final Winners - U15s
The U15s won their first ever final with a superb performance in the Charles Rice Invitation Cup playing at Pontefract Colliers FC. The two nil win over Hemsworth Terriers was well deserved after a great team performance. Ossett edged the first half with both teams having chances and playing some great football. But in the second Ossett dominated and went a goal up mid-way through the way. This stirred Ossett on and for the remainder of the half they constantly threatened the Hemsworth defence getting a well deserved second goal with about 10 minutes to go. Town were superb in this game and thoroughly deserved the win - well done from all at Ossett Town to the U15s players, Justin Fozard and his coaching staff and all of the parents and supporters who witnessed a great win - well done guys. Official match report:
"Ossett Town Under 15s took on highly rated Hemsworth Terriers in the final of the Charles Rice Invitation Cup at Pontefract Collieries, and produced an outstanding all round performance to take the trophy 2 – 0.
A hard fought first half ended goalless, with chances at a premium, and both defences on top. Town matched Hemsworth in every department, particularly in terms of effort, attitude and belief, and went into the break the more confident outfit.
Ossett started the second period where they ended the first, and put Hemsworth under increasing pressure, creating several good scoring opportunities. The deadlock was broken midway through the half, with a close range effort from Tommy Omilabu following a corner and headed attempt by Harry Townend. Hemsworth came back strongly but it was Town who increased their lead when a well worked move was coolly finished by Kyle Kenningley. Hemsworth continued to press for a way back into the match, but the Ossett defence held firm to secure an excellent victory.
The whole team were awarded the man of the match award, but special mention should go to skipper Joe Hitch who never put a foot wrong all evening and lead by example throughout."
