On a dank and misty Remembrance morning at Springmill, the formalities started with a minutes silence. For this cup game, the Jaguars had been drawn against a team two divisions above them in terms of league standings. It wasn’t long before this gap in performance started to show and Brighouse quickly went 2 – 0 up. The half continued in a similar vein with almost continuous pressure from the visitors. There were though some positives to be taken from the half. Alex in goal was very busy and made a lot of excellent saves. Hasan had a couple of half chances and Harrison and Hamza played some searching through balls. Harry made a couple of smashing runs with a strong defensive display from Jay and Jamal. Despite these efforts half time came with the score at 7 – 0.

The Jaguars didn’t let the score line get them down and they came on for the second with a fantastic positive attitude. Ossett changed their formation and packed the midfield and although little could be done about the result and Brighouse got a few more goals the scoring rate was significantly slowed. Again there were some performances of note; Joseph and Sam never gave up at the back, Luke never stopped getting the tackles in and Dylan was always involved enjoying his roaming role. The result ended at 11 – 0, but the overall performance, particularly in terms of attitude and positivity, was remarkable and the man of the match award was presented to the whole team.
