The Ossett Town ‘ Tornados ‘ secured ‘ back to back ‘ Huddersfield Junior League titles with this comfortable win at home to Upperthong ( A ). The team lined up with Elliot Robinson in goal, James Ferguson and Connor Mcaliskey in defence. The midfield today were Lewis Stephens, Ewan Broadbent and Keiran Stephenson with Billy Pert up front. The lone sub today was Bradley Graham ( after he had enjoyed a non-authorised lay in bed ). The hosts played some good interchange football throughout the duration of this match on a difficult surface. Billy Pert looked sharp gaining himself the player of the match award with a two goal industrious style performance. Keeper Elliot Robinson remained assurred and dealt with just about everything asked of him. James Ferguson and his new defensive partner Connor Mcaliskey settled in well together at the back ( regular partner Jacob Nash being un-available due to being on choir boy duties at his local church ). The midfield trio combined well with Keiran Stephenson playing many interchange passes with Billy Pert down the left. Lewis Stephens was always looking to be in on the action and he scored a fine individual goal. Ewan Broadbent utilised his vision and general awareness to instigate alot of ‘ Town’s ‘ attacking plays and he also got himself onto the score sheet. Upperthong ( A ) were gallant opponents and they managed a first half goal of their own after some good approach play. The ‘ Tornados ‘ were in control throughout this fixture and were in no mood to relinquish their grip on the ‘ League Title ‘. Bradley Graham enjoyed freedom down the right which enabled him to trouble the scorers with a fine strike. James Ferguson then followed suit with a great strike from distance into the roof of the net. All in all a good solid performance from Ossett who finished the game as 6 – 1 winners. Well done to Upperthong ( A ) and good luck in the future.
