Farsley Celtic 0 Ossett Town Juniors 4
Scorers – Luke Townend (3) , William Kenworthy
Man of the Match – Luke Townend
The Tornados travelled to Farsley Celtic on a bitterly cold Mothering sunday and lined up Elliott Robinson in goal , Jaocb Nash / James Ferguson & Conner McCaliskey in defence with Ewan Broadbent / Lewis Stephens / Will Kenworthy & Brad Graham making up midfield . Luke Townend was todays lone front man with Billy Pert and James Higgins sat on a Jet heeled bench .
The game started at a fast pace , Ossett enjoying good possession in the Farsley Celtic half of the field as they looked for an early breakthrough . Farsley look very dangerous on the break as they looked to expoilt the space created by the full backs pushing forward but find Jacob Nash rock solid as he clears any danger with several well timed tackles . Chances are at a premium during the first half , Ewan Broadbent tried his luck from long range and Lewis Stephens was unlucky not to find the bottom corner with one effort from the left . At the other end Elliott Robinson produced a superb double save to deny Farsley the opening goal of the game . The 1st half was evenly balenced with both sides snapping into tackles and creating chances as the game flowed from end to end but Ossett managed to sneak a half time lead when Ewan Broadbent fed the ball to Conner McCaliskey who put the cross into the back post and Luke Townend bundled the ball home to give Town the lead ( 1-0 ) at half time .
Farsley could certainly count themselves very hard done to to have been down at half time and they came out with renewed determination at the start of the 2nd half creating several good chances to equalize but Town held firm and slowly worked thier way into the 2nd half . James Higgins continued his good form as he raided down the right showing good speed & skills in getting to the byline & putting in dangerous crosses time & again , Brad Graham was a commanding figure at centre half , sweeping up well when needed and pinging long balls out to the wings . Town got the 2nd goal of the afternoon when James Ferguson played Conner McCaliskey in on the left and as he surged into the area his pinpoint cross found Luke Townend who made no mistake from 8yrds out (2-0) . Farsley came back strongly though winning more than their fair share of tackles in the midfield and looking for the gaps in defence , Ossett wrapped up the game when Luke Townend slammed home a loose ball in the area to make the score (3-0) and claimed a hat-trick and well deserved man of the match award . The final goal of the game was definatly worth waiting for as William Kenworthy curled a free kick into the top corner to make the score (4-0) and seal a hard fought but deserved victory for the Tornados
Credit to Farsley who made life incredably difficult for Ossett , the no3 in particular caught the eye as he was outstanding at the back , in what was a very entertaining game of football , Town though dug deep and showed patience in possession and didnt get frustrated when the chances didnt come but showed a clinical edge when they did . Good luck to Farsley Celtic for the remainder of the season - Well Done guys !!
