Guiseley Whites 1 v 8 Ossett Town Tornados
Guisley Whites 1 v 8 Ossett Town Tornados
Scorers Bradley Graham 3, Billy Pert 2, Luke Townend 2 and Connor Mcaliskey
Player of the match Will Kenworthy
The ‘Tornados’ were back in action on Saturday with an away league fixture at Guisley Whites. Ewan Broadbent failed a late fitness test having succumbed to flu during the night. He will hopefully be fit for next week’s fixture. Sadly during the game Will (David Fairclough) Kenworthy sustained a broken arm after falling awkwardly during a challenge from an opponent. Town dominated the game from start to finish and they quickly raced into a 3 goal lead. A couple of fine strikes from Billy Pert and a goal line tap in from Bradley Graham set the tone (he apologises to Luke for stealing his fine strike). Guisley showed plenty of effort against a slick Ossett Town outfit. All the players contributed with Keiran Stephenson, James Higgins and Lewis Stephens pulling the strings in midfield. Will Kenworthy displayed trickery on the ball and Connor Mcaliskey was a constant thorn in the hosts side. Half time arrived with Ossett having a convincing 3 – 0 lead. In the second half Town played well again whilst remaining solid at the rear. Defenders Jacob Nash, Bailey Rawden and James Ferguson all had fine games remaining calm and composed. Keeper Elliot Robinson was in commanding form organising his defence and racing from goal to clear confidently when the need arose. Further goals were scored by in form striker Luke Townend with a brace and two more from Bradley Graham completing his hat trick. Will Kenworthy sustained his unfortunate injury and departed to the local hospital. He was awarded the player of the match award as a reward for his courage and effort. Connor Mcaliskey was rewarded for his energetic efforts with a fine solo goal near the end. To their credit Guisley tried hard throughout and scored a great goal from their capable midfield player. The final score finished 8-1 to Ossett Town. Well done to both sets of players and good luck to Guisley Whites in the future. All the players, Coaches and supporters would like to wish Will Kenworthy a good and speedy recovery. His arm has since been operated on and plated so with a bit of luck he will soon be on the mend. Thanks to Guisley for all their assistance on the day.
