U8’s – Saville Town ‘v’ Ossett Town

Match Report by Vinnie Hewitt (&dad)

The two teams kicked off and immediately Ossett looked strong in midfield with some big tackles from Lauren and Jake.

The early stages of the half were played in midfield both teams showing good energy and bite in the tackles.

Then halfway through the first half josh showed some neat footwork and played through Jake who wriggled into a great position but his left foot strike cannoned off the post at this point Ossett were starting to dominate.

Shortly after a good tackle and clearance from Finley he found Ethan G who carried the ball well and found Jake in space in the box he took one touch and then with his left foot produced a brilliant left foot finish 1v0. GREAT TEAM GOAL!!

From the kick off saville town had their first chance, through one on one but Rocco who had very little to do up to this point raced out and made a good save.

Then Josh once again showed some excellent footwork and hit a great shot but it was well saved by the keeper he was then substituted for Ethan Mitchell who got stuck in straight away.

Shortly after Saville town showed some good passing and just managed to squeeze a shot past the out stretched arms of Rocco 1v1.

The last 5 minuets of the first half were contested mainly in the midfield and Ossett were looking the stronger but just couldn’t find that second Goal 1v1 at half time.

The second half started with some good pressure from Saville Town but after some more good midfield play from Lauren and Ethan the ball fell to Jake on his right foot and he smashed Ossett into the lead 2v1 GREAT FINISH BY JAKE!!!!

At this point Ossett were starting to dominate and pushed on looking to put the game to bed. First a shot from Ethan just missing the target and then a left foot strike from Josh was saved well by the keeper.

Now Saville town started put some pressure on Ossett but just couldn’t find the goal they needed.

After some good distribution from Rocco in the Ossett goal josh had a chance put ossett further in front but his shot was deflected for an Ossett Corner, Jake Coates took a lovely in swinging corner with his left foot which was to hot for the keeper to handle 3v1 AND AN EXCELLENT HATRICK FROM JAKE!!

With only a couple of minuets left Ossett looked comfortable and Saville Town Couldn’t manage to create anything to worry the solid Ossett defence.

A hard fought victory for ossett and a great team performance everybody gave 100% which delighted the Ossett coaching staff. But a brilliant hatrick made Jake Coates the stand out player.
