Ladies beat Devils
After a month without football, both Ossett Town Ladies sides also had postponed fixtures in the League this Sunday due to the wet weather. Fortunately, this meant that the Ladies were able to accept an offer of a friendly with Durkar Devils Ladies and put out a XI side to get some match practice.
With two players making their debuts in this fixture and another returning from injury, it was a good test for them as well a chance for the squad as a whole to blow away the cobwebs and burn off some post Christmas calories!
Ossett quickly sailed into the lead with goals from Leanne Barraclough and a brace from Chloe Holt.
They then made a number of changes before Louise Julian found herself in front of goal from the left back position and made it 0-4 after 20 minutes.
After a number of other substitutions, Chloe Holt made way for Nikki Pedley and the latter got on the score sheet on the half hour. Abby McQuillan got another for Ossett just before half time.
Ossett started the second half with a player less and left themselves wide open at the back to try to encourage Durkar to get the ball forward. They worked extremely hard, never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts as they pulled a goal back.
Ossett finished the game with a striker at centre half, centre forward in midfield and their goalkeeper up front as Caitlyn Beavors also found herself on the scoresheet. Other goals were scored by Amy Hoang and Danielle Sidebottom.
Final score 1-9. Player of the Match was Amy Hoang.
Both Ossett sides are back in League action next weekend. The First Team will play Bradford Park Avenue (venue TBC) whilst the Second Team play Amaranth Ladies at Middleton Leisure Centre. Both ties take place on Sunday 17th January. Kick Off times TBC.
