U9’s vs Norristhorpe Match Reports

Ossett Town Titans vs Norristhorpe

Norristhorpe started strongly with an early shot from Norristhorpe was covered by Hayden at the front post. A good pass from Josh gave Jake.R an opening with his shot just going past the post. More attacks from Norristhorpe and another shot on goal saved. A long shot from the Norristhorpe striker was again parried by Hayden. A lot of play in the Ossett half but good defending keeping Norristhorpe out. A break from The Titans provides Jake.R with another shot which is blocked by the defender on the line. More attacks from Norristhorpe brought a number of shots which Hayden did well to save. Norristhorpe still on top but great defending keeps the game level. Ossett break down the line and awarded a penalty. Jake.R steps up and scores!! 0-1. Another attack from Norristhorpe and again a good block by Jake.C. Another attack from The Titans gives Jake.R his second after Rhys put him through in the box. 0-2. A shot from the Norristhorpe striker is saved well by Hayden who was definitely the busier goalkeeper in the first half. HT 0-2.
Good play from The Titans at the start of the first half having some shots saved by the keeper. Norristhorpe started growing strong and got a breakthrough with a tap in at the back post after Hayden could only parry the near post shot. 1-2. Ossett playing well but some good play from Norristhorpe give them the equaliser. 2-2. Another good run down the right and a cross into the box puts Norristhorpe in the lead. 3-2. Ossett pick the ball up and Vinnie finds Ben with a great pass, Ben coolly slots home to make it 3-3. Ben and Josh both had shots which were blocked by the defenders, The Titans pushing forward for the winner, but a caught on the break and Norristhopre go into the lead with Haydens save from the shot dropping to the striker in the box. 4-3. FT4-3.
A game with lots of end to end play and shots on target with The Titans showing a hard fought display against a very strong Norristhorpe team. The Titans were unlucky to lose the winning goal.

Ossett Town Trojans vs Norristhorpe

Team Seb (GK), Taylor, Dan, James, Finlay, Harry, Ashton, Alfie, Hayden, Jake.R, Vinnie

Norristhorpe attacking early with The Trojans defending well. Lots of play in the midfield area with neither team getting on top. Ossett managed to start playing higher up the pitch with Jake.R scoring after nicking the ball from the defender. 0-1. Alfie had a good run up the wing but the last ditch tackle prevented him getting his shot away. Another shot from Jake.R was saved well by the keeper. Good attacking from The Trojans keeping the pressure on Norristhorpe. Norristhorpe got a break with the strikers shot well blocked by Finlay. More good play from Ossett at the end of the half but couldn’t find a way through. HT0-1.

Good play from Jake.R finds Hayden with a good pass who slots the ball home at the beginning of the second half. 0-2. Ossett playing the better football with a succession of corners but well defended against. Hayden has a run down the left and fires his shot towards the back post but hits the inside of the post and rolls across the goal line just for Alfie to stab it in at the front post. 0-3. The Trojans looking much stringer with Finlay managing to dribble into the box but couldn’t get his shot away. Harry had a great shot soon after which produced a save from the keeper, Alfie managed to keep the ball in play and found Vinnie with a pass to the back post who tapped in for the fourth. 4-0. More good play with Ossett controlling the game to the end. FT 0-4.

The Trojans should good strength throughout and got the victory they deserved with an excellent team performance.
