Storm Match Report 30/09/12

After a short drive up in to the hills high above Thornhill for an away game against Overthorpe, the storm team who was made up of Evan Clarke in goal, Evan S on the left, Ethan on the right, Louie, Danny and Will in the middle and Ben upfront, subs were Connor and JJ- Ossett kicked off and found themselves straight on top after some good attacking play. The first goal fell to Ossett after Louie took a shot that went up and over everyone and landed in the back of the net 0-1. Evan S was great in defence showing composure and maturity above his years, he drew the play to him as he spread the ball wide to create attacking play for the team. A great pass from Ethan to JJ who then goes on a run and passes to Louie who again puts the ball away 0-2. Ossett spent most of this half on top of the game although just before the half time whistle Ossett conceded a free kick just out side the Ossett box but panic was over quickly as the ball went straight over the net and out of play.

Half time

The second half was pretty much the same with Ossett being the strongest team and showing great spirit and really playing well. Ben had some shots that were saved by the keeper. Danny scored the next 2 goals which put Ossett in the driving seat 0-4 . JJ got the 5th goal after a second attempt at a corner kick after Louie was practicing ‘kicking the corner flag in’ much to the crowd’s amusement. 0-5. Overthorpe to their credit never gave up and were putting some great passes together which paid off as they managed to break through the Ossett defence and score 1-5. Ossett finished the game after another 2 goals from Danny and 1 from Louie. 1-8. Connor played a good passing game and greatly contributed to the goals that were scored and the man of the match was awarded to Will Smith for his consistent passing play.
